Abstract
This study aimed to identify the types of life satisfaction among non-disabled children of parents with disabilities, considering that disability can affect not only the individual but also the entire family. Additionally, the study aimed to identify the factors that influence each group based on their life satisfaction types. To achieve these objectives, latent profile analysis was conducted using data from the third panel of the disability and dynamics panal (2020), which included 802 non-disabled children of parents with disabilities. Furthermore, multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore the predictive variables for each type. As a result of the analysis, three types of life satisfaction changes were identified: the low satisfaction group, the moderate satisfaction group, and the high satisfaction group. The multinomial logistic regression analysis revealed that, when comparing the high satisfaction group with the low satisfaction group as the reference group, the probability of belonging to the high satisfaction group was higher when individuals had higher self-esteem and when their parents with disabilities required less daily living assistance and had a higher level of disability acceptance, as well as when their monthly household income was higher. The same results were obtained when comparing the moderate satisfaction group with the low satisfaction group as the reference group. However, in terms of family and environmental interaction factors, the probability of belonging to the moderate satisfaction group as the reference group was higher when there was public support for disability-related assistance, compared to when there was ¡°none.¡± Based on these research findings, implications are discussed, as well as limitations and directions for future research.
